IN MEMORY OF SANTI

We knew that starting a brand like MAJA would face great challenges, and this has been etched into our DNA. For us, adventure is what keeps us going. Starting this journey hasn't been easy, but it's been worth every effort.

While developing the brand, we sadly lost Santiago De Nicolás (son of our co-founder José Ignacio De Nicolás) and from that moment on, we decided to make our journey a tribute to “Santi” or “Santo” as his father called him.

Santiago was a rebel by birth, restless as ever. Altata Bay and its surroundings were his natural habitat, where he felt fulfilled. The sand, the dunes, the sea, and its sunsets were his fuel.

His greatest pillar was friendship—he was always there for others and ready to help. Mornings could find him delivering food boxes with the priest at El Carmen Church; afternoons, having lunch with his family; nights, singing banda with his friends; and by dawn, bringing a serenade to a girl. A soul overflowing with energy—an adventurer who led by example and lived life to the fullest.

Santi watched MAJA come to life. It was his biggest dream. He handed out the first samples of our caps, gave away stickers, and told everyone the story behind the brand—already a natural leader, destined to steer the project. We like to think he’s with us from above on this great adventure, helping us keep making the right calls. As his dad says: “Approved by our CHO (Chief Heaven Officer).”
